How this tool works
Resting energy requirement (RER) = 70 × weight in kg^0.75. We use starting factors of 1.2 (neutered) or 1.4 (intact) for healthy adult maintenance; actual needs vary. Food grams/day = (estimated daily kcal − treat kcal) ÷ kcal per 100 g × 100. Divide grams by meals for a portion. These are starting estimates, not a prescribed diet.
